UDHAMPUR, Feb 25: Hitting out at “anti India intellectuals,” Union Minister in PMO with Independent charge of North Eastern States, Dr Jitendra Singh today said there is no place for “anti-India Intellectualism” which has, in recent times, become a favorite pastime for some of the “failed scholars and academicians” who feel tempted to use Kashmir as a convenient subject to seek “intellectual pretensions”.
Speaking at an interactive session held at the Government Degree College here today, Dr Jitendra Singh took a strong dig at these so-called intellectuals saying “self-styled and failed intellectuals who use Kashmir to promote themselves are guilty of promoting terrorism”.
He said these so called intellectuals deliver lectures which may be revolting and in the process they are supporting terrorism.
He said even the most developed democracies of the world like USA don’t allow any place to such “intellectual jingoism” which tends to wreck the nation.
Dr Jitendra Singh said the mediocres who are unable to earn recognition as intellectuals or writers through mainstream, have found a convenient option of delivering an anti-India lecture to appear different from others or to write a book on Kashmir and seek overnight recognition. Such so- called intellectuals, he said, are actually guilty of promoting violent terrorism by spreading intellectual terrorism.
Coming down heavily on Kashmir apologists, whether in academics or in politics, Dr Jitendra Singh called upon the researchers to go through the statements made by the members of this genre after the Pulwama attack, because all these statements are vague, generalized and generic, without naming Hurriyat, separatists and Pakistan or even calling a terrorist a terrorist.
The Union Minister said whether it is ‘Tukday’-Tukday Gang or ‘Seminar Circuit’, they hold regular events in Delhi or other parts of the country and use different channels to create viewers so that they can get attraction and get noticed. “But in real sense they are the enemies of the country. They deliver lectures which are revolting and their sole motive is to create unrest in the country, he added.
Without naming any body, Dr Jitendra Singh also lambasted the Kashmir centric leaders of using Article 35 A to provoke passion for their electoral benefits. He said when the issue is sub-judice, it is duty of all responsible parties not to vitiate atmosphere and mislead the people under prevailing circumstances.
Responding to the queries by students and offering his comments on a lecture delivered by youth activist and motivational expert, Sajan Shah, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the motivation is incomplete without conviction and conviction leads nowhere without courage, and both conviction and courage can together achieve the optimum results only through the growth of inner sensibilities. Such motivation, he said, has to originate from within and requires consistent and constant self-introspection.
While emphasizing the virtues of sincerity of purpose and focus of mind, Dr Jitendra Singh observed that many of us tend to spend a lot of time and energy in trying to discover others but hardly ever get to discover ourselves.
On the occasion, Dr Jitendra Singh also inaugurated a series of new academic blocks in the College premises and new Smart Classroom Complex.
Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr) Nutan K Resutra, in his welcome address, said that he had been for a long time trying to invite Dr Jitendra Singh for an interaction with students, particularly because Dr Singh is himself a noted teacher and academician. He said, the students are highly enthusiastic about engaging in an interaction with Dr Jitendra Singh and attending a session on motivation.
Former Minister, Pawan Gupta, BJP vice president, Pawan Khajuria, party leader, Sanjeev Sharma and BJYM National Executive Member, Bharat Sharma were also present in the programme.
