Karvan-e-Aman bus run cancelled due to Muharram

SRINAGAR :  Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of
Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) was cancelled today in view of the Muharram, martyrdom of Hazrat Hussain, grandson of Prophet Muhammad.
Official sources said there will be no bus today. However, the residents of PoK and Kashmir, who were scheduled to travel in the bus, will be accommodated in next bus, they said.
The bus was cancelled after authorities from both the sides agreed, the sources added.
The bus service was also suspended in view of Eid-ul-Azha. The bus service was also cancelled on January 20 and 27 after police recovered brown sugar from a truck of PoK and arrested the driver. The service also remained suspended during flood in September in the Kashmir valley.    The service has helped thousands of families, divided in 1947 due to partition to meet each other, after then Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh flagged off first bus from here on April 7, 2005.
