KISTHWAR, Oct 20: Seeking a decisive mandate for changing fate of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, senior leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Lok Sabha member from Srinagar Parliamentary segment, Tariq Hamid Karra today said that coming Assembly elections were not just to elect MLAs but to elect a Chief Minister for this sensitive State.
“Mufti Mohammad Sayeed during his earlier tenure as Chief Minister of the State has proved how to deliver good governance to the people by bringing transparency and accountability in the government”, Mr Karra said while addressing an impressive public meeting here along with other senior leaders of the Party.
Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Abdul Rehman Veeri, former Minister Peer Mohammad Hussain, Sayeed Asgar Ali, MLC and Ferdous Tak, PDP candidate for Kistwar Assembly segment also spoke on the occasion.
“The State of Jammu and Kashmir is passing through a crucial phase at this juncture because during the last six years the present regime has brazenly dismantled all democratic institutions so there is a need to elect a statesman and a capable leader like Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as Chief Minister to get the State out of the unprecedented crisis”, Mr Karra said while listing misdeeds of Omar Abdullah led coalition regime in J&K. He mentioned that it was all due to the wrong policies of the Omar Abdullah led government that alienation of the people was increasing with every passing day.
Pointing towards coming Assembly elections, he said, “It would not be fight between individual candidates in their respective constituencies but the elections would provide people of J&K an opportunity to elect Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as Chief Minister of this State”.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Rehman Veeri cautioned the people against nefarious designs of ruling National Conference which brazenly raked up emotions of the people for petty personal gains. “Except exploiting sentiments of the people, NC has done nothing for socio-economic growth of people of this belt”, he said.
Reminding the people about various steps which taken during the regime of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Mr Veeri said that ambitious Vaillo tunnel was dream project of Mufti Sahib to connect Kishtwar with Kashmir. He assured the people that PDP would complete this project at any cost.
Veeri, who is conducting an extensive tour of Chenab Valley region along with other senior leaders, said that there was strong wave of favour of PDP in this belt.
