Accompanied by working presidents Tara Chand and Raman Bhalla, ex- MP Ch Lal Singh, Th Balwan Singh, Ravinder Sharma, Ved Mahajan, ex- MLAs Dina Nath Bhagat, Krishan Chand Bhagat, District president Vinod Khajuria and others, Karra hit out BJP for downgrading a historical Dogra state into UT. For the first time in the history of nation, a state was downgraded by disrespecting the constitution and founders of this state, he said.
“BJP gave false promises in the Parliament and in the Supreme Court about early restoration of state. Prime Minister and Home Minister repeatedly announced restoration of Statehood, immediately after elections but now say that it will be done at appropriate time,” Karra remarked.
At one hand, the Centre claims normalcy while on the other hand say time for Statehood is not appropriate. He questioned Central Government over security scenario and said soldiers are being martyred, and civilians killings also taking place.
PCC chief said that BJP doesn’t want to honour it’s commitment, so Congress is committed to take this movement to the people to struggle for getting back the lost honour, dignity, status and powers to serve the people. In the present state of confusion, the administration is confused as well as passing on the buck to others to escape responsibilities while people suffer.
Exhorting workers to unitedly fight for the rights and issues of people and asked them to strengthen the party for a bigger movement against communal and divisive forces. He referred to urgent issues like power, water, ration, huge taxations, regularisation of daily wagers, mining etc. which are priority of the party but Government but in the absence of Statehood and powers, these issues are lingering on.
