Karnad’s “Tughlaq” creates magical aura in Rangleela Natya Utsav

JAMMU, Oct 11: On the second day of Rangleela Natya Utsav, Dhoon Ghati Rangmanch today presented Girish Karnad’s magnum opus “Tughlaq” to audience’s delight.
The story of Tughlaq’s impacts the era of Mughal empire wherein Mughal emperor Tughlaq’s vision and plan remained unsuccessful during this dynasty in which his Amir Umra’s public was disappointed by his experiments.
However, some of his experiments were taken as genius. His dynasty spanned from 1325 to 1351 as he wished to maintain good relationship between Hindus and Muslim but his physical sickness came to dominate him. His close ones and believers started maintaining distance from him due to his anger and sickness too.
Meanwhile his mother killed his most closed one Najeeb that disturbed Tughlaq and he decides to give punishment of death penalty to his mother. Loneliness starts empowering upon him but he decides that whatever end he achieves, he will continue to accomplish his work.
Tughlaq was played by Brijesh Narain who was ably supported by Shivam as Shahabudin, Adsesh Narain as Najib, Surmati Parcha as Sauteli Maa and Avdesh Narain as Sheikh Mahumudin. The combination and body language of the actors on stage presented a scintillating chemistry which took audience to charming surprise.
Costumes, music and set designs added flavour to the high profile production which was a first time watch for the people of Jammu.
The play was written by Girish Karnad and directed by Brijesh Narain with an accomplished feat by Dhoon Ghati Rangmanch, Dehradun.
The 15-day event is being conducted by Lakshya -The Aim and powered by Nutan Prayas Manch.
