Srinagar, June 1 : Former Sadr-i-Riyasat and Rajya Sabha member, Dr Karan Singh who is camping in Srinagar today appealed to the State Government to preserve world famous Dal lake and dismantle all the encroachments found in and around this lake.
During an interaction with the representatives of various social organizations in Srianagar, Dr Singh expressed deep concern about the present condition of Dal lake. He said that State Government should utilize all the funds provided by the Central Government in an appropriate way.
He said that Dal lake is backbone to Tourism Industry in Kashmir and if appropriate steps are not taken in its preservation then a day will come soon when it will vanish from the tourism map of the State.
Representatives of various social organizations appealed to Dr Singh to find ways and means to save this world famous Dal lake. Dr Singh said that encroachments that are being found in and around Dal must be dismantled without any delay. He appealed the State Government to take major steps in this regard. (CNS)
