ANANTNAG, Sept 27: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Rohit Kansal today reviewed post flood scenario and relief operations at a high level meeting with district administration at Anantnag.
The meeting was attended by DDC, ADDC, ADC, Joint Director Planning, District heads of all engineering & non engineering wings besides all SDMS and Tehsildars.
DDC Anantnag Bashir Ahmad Khan gave an overall view of the flood damage and past flood measures taken by the district administration. It was given out in the meeting that twelve different teams have been formulated for assessment of flood damage the work of which will be completed very soon.
It was given out in the meeting that 98 percent road connectivity has been successfully restored across the district besides badly damaged bridges have been provided with diversions for plying of the smooth traffic.
It was apprised in the meeting that safe drinking water facility has been provided to 80 percent population by temporary repair of the damaged water supply schemes or make shift arrangements. There is no scarcity of food grains and other eatables from any corner of the district. The normal September ration has been provided to all besides the distribution of free rationing is under full swing.
Divisional Commissioner, Rohit Kansal directed all the officers to speed up the assessment work and complete it as soon as possible with cent percent transparency and verification. He instructed for displaying the relief list/measures and its distributions at public places and in each effected village/ town. He further instructed for including technical experts in the assessment teams so that it is prepared technically.
He stressed for providing chlorine tablets and vaccination to prevent outbreak of any disease. Municipal officers were directed to arrange special sanitation and cleanliness drives in the respective towns especially in the flood hit areas. He instructed for arranging phenyl and -other disinfectants for ensuring check on water borne diseases.
Divisional Commissioner stressed on CAPD officials to make sure the supply of essential commodities in every habitation of the district. PDD and R&B officers were also directed for restoration of left over electric and road facilities immediately. Flood control officers were also directed to speed up the drudging and bund laying processes.
He directed DDC Anantnag for establishing a complaint cum redressal cell for receiving and disposing off the complaints with regard to the assessment and distribution of relief.
