JAMMU, Apr 25: R K Kalsotra State president of All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC (J&K) called on Jammu University Registrar Prof Manoj Dhar and discussed with him the issue of creation of Dr B R Ambedkar Chair in the University.
The Registrar assured that every possible step including the signing of the MOU between the University and Dr Ambedkar Foundation, New Delhi will be taken to create the Chair within the stipulated time.
Pertinent to mention that the Confederation has been pursuing the matter for quite some time and had also approached the Dr Ambedkar Foundation, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, New Delhi for the creation of the Chair. Dr Ambedkar Foundation, New Delhi has now acceded the demand of the Confederation and sanctioned the Dr Ambedkar Chair and the budget for the purpose.
Mr Kalsotra also discussed and supported the demands of the University SC/ST Employees Association.
