JAMMU, July 17: Prof. Kailash Mehra Sadhu, HoD Music MAM College, Jammu, a renowned and melodious singer of the state has bagged various prestigious awards in US during her recent tour abroad.
Mrs Mehra, who visited US and Canada on the invitation of Sharika Foundation Canada and Kashmiri Hindu Foundation California (US) from June 23 to July 13 and participated in various music concerts there was awarded by California Senate for her invaluable achievements and contributions in advancing Kashmiri culture and music.
The Senate also passed a resolution in her honour. The award and certificate of honor was conferred to her by Senator Michael J Rubio at a function organized by the Senate.
Another Award was given to her by City of Fresno in recognition of her life time achievement and contribution towards Kashmiri culture and music. The award was given to her on June 28 in Oakhurst, CA, USA. It also proclaimed to celebrate the June 30 as Kailash Mehra Sadhu Day.
The other award was given to her by Congress of United States on behalf of people of California during 5th KP cultural meet in Oakhurst, California. She was also given certificate of Special Congressional recognition by Jim Costa, Member of Congress.
On June 28 at another function at California, she was conferred a prestigious award by Henry T Prefa, Member of California State Assembly.
She was also conferred another award and certificate of special Congressional recognition by Jim Costa, member of Congress on June 30 at 5th Kashmiri Pandit Cultural meet. Besides Prof Mehra was honoured by Congress of the United States, House of Representatives on June 25. The award and certificate was conferred to her John Garamendi member of Congress.
In addition to this the melody queen was also honoured during a function at Canada organized by Sharika Foundation.
