Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Jan 1: The residents of Kabir Nagar, Talab Tillo Bhori have expressed their grave concern over the prevailing insanitation in the area and sought the immediate attention of the authorities at the helm of affairs to launch a sanitation drive besides renovation of dilapidated lands and by lanes in the area.
In a statement issued here, today the residents of the area said that lanes and sub lanes are mostly dilapidated and in worst condition especially Lane Number 2 and its sub lanes. They said the manholes are open at some places and one had to move in risk even at 12’O’ noon as they have become the death traps. The insanitation and worst condition of drains can lead to spread of epidemic in case immediate steps were not taken to remove the filth and garbage etc.
They said that there is a plot in the centre of the area which has been made as dust bin of garbage by the people. These all aspects i.e repair of security lights, cleaning of the garbage heaps and the repair of the foot path of the lane and its sub lanes was taken up a number of times with J M C authorities and Concerned MLA but to no avail.
The residents said the issue was later taken up with Governor’s office which forwarded the representation to JMC Jammu but till date no initiative was taken by civic body to solve the problem.
