JAMMU, Oct 24: Naar Alaav a poetry collection of lt Kanya Lal Pardesi hits stands today. The book was released at a simple but impressive function jointly organised by Nagrad Adbi Sangam and Young Writers Guild at K L Sehgal Hall here.
Ramesh Hangloo , Director Radio Sharda was the chief guest on the occasion while Swami Kumar Ji of Geeta Satsangh Ashram was the guest of honour. The function was presided over Bal Krishan Sanyasi a well known poet and it was anchored by Er Vinod Kumar. Brij Betab a renowned broadcaster was also on dais.
The welcome address was read by Rinku Koul. The function started with a two minute silence in memory of late writer and poet. The gathering also paid floral tributes to this ace writer and poet. A K Naaz, president, Nagrad Adbi Sangam gave detailed introduction about late Pardesi. He said the late writer was a noble and humble person. He said Pardesi’s poetry touches the heart which is based on pangs of migration and forced exodus from Valley 30 years back. Others who spoke on the poetry of Pardesi included Prof P N Trisal a renowned scholar, Satish Safeer, Ram Krishan and Dildar Mohan.
A poem from the book was recited by Pardesi’s daughter Sarswati who also complimented the organizers in guiding her and family in compiling the poems of her father in a book form.
Ramesh Hangloo in his address while highly acclaiming the poetry of Pardesi said he was a noble and simple man. Despite holding a good position in Central Government, Pardesi was a down to earth and god fearing man. Though a man of simplicity his poetry and writings have lot of depth which shows his high intellect and caliber.
Bal Krishan Sanyasi in his presidential address termed Pardesi a great poet with philosophical mind.
The book comprises of 153 poems which have been presented in different segments. The function was attended by galaxy of writers, poets and prominent citizens which among others included B N Abilash, M L Pandita, Santosh Nadaan, M L Musroof, Kundan Paras, Kusum Dhar, Ashok Gowhar, S N Sanam, Shyam Behari, Ramesh Augur, Tej Sagar, Mahraj K Mahraj, Pyaray Hatash and S N Tickoo.
