JAMMU, Apr 25: In a bid to help the poor people to visit Haridwar and have holy dip in river Ganges for the first time, Jammu Yatri Bhawan Trust has taken a new kind of initiative under which it would invite group of at least 20 people, who have never visited Haridwar so far, and make all arrangements for their visit, stay and return.
Jammu Yatri Bhawan Trust president Pawan Shastri said the Trust would invite the people to form a group of at least 20 people and approach them for visiting Haridwar to have dip in holy river of Ganges and perform ritual rites.
“We will make all arrangements for the group free of cost including their travel to and fro, stay in Haridwar, food etc,” Mr Shastri said, adding only those people would be covered under the initiative, who have never visited Haridwar and taken dip in holy Ganges so far.
This is being done to help the people of Jammu to visit Haridwar at least once in their life time.
Invoking religious books, Mr Shastri said the living people can also perform their own `shrads’ at the river Ganges.
“The people, who think that their next of kin will not perform their ‘shrads’ or were not in condition to perform ‘shrads’ after their death, can perform the ‘shrad’ themselves, he said, adding this facility would also be provided to the people free of cost, if asked for.
Already, the Trust has arranged the visit of 30 inmates of Vridh Ashram Ambphalla to Haridwar free of cost.
