JAMMU, Sept 3: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) has threatened agitation against the implementation of the new Motor Vehicle (MV) Act.
In a press conference here today JWAM leader, Sunil Dimple appealed to the Governor Satya Pal Malik and DGP Dilbagh Singh not to implement the new MV Act in Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory.
He claimed that Punjab, West Bengal, Rajsthan, MP, Gujarat and many other States have refused the implementation the new MV Act to charge heavy penalties from traffic rule violators.
Dimple further claimed that 80 per cent population, in Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh is economically weak and cannot afford the new MV Act fines.
He mentioned an example that there is Rs. 1,000 fine for driving without seat-belt in new MV Act which was earlier Rs.100 and said this is not justified.
