JAMMU, Apr 1: Activists of Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) here today staged a protest demonstration against Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and ERA sewerage network for worst sanitation condition in the area.
The protest was led by JWAM president, Sunil Dimple who asked the JMC to solve the sanitation problem else JWAM activists will torch effigies of JMC.
The protesters raised slogans against JMC Mayor and Corporators for the worst sanitation conditions in the areas like Amphalla, New Plot and Janipur High Court road.
The protesters along with large number of traders of Jammu West Assembly Constituency raised slogans against the ERA Sewerage Project, JMC, PWD R&B and PHE for alleged sub-standard work done on ERA Sewerage Network.
They alleged that water from sewerage gutter overflows and gets mixed with PHE water pipes which is supplied for drinking.
Dimple also alleged that JMC has failed to remove garbage dumps and improve dilapidated drains in Sarwal, Rehari, Janipur, New Plot, Shiv Nagar, Shakti Nagar, Talab Tillo, Krishna Nagar, Mahesh Pura, Top Sherkhania etc.
Prominent among the protesters were Manjiet Anand, Sahin Soi, Chuni Lal Bhat, Ajay Sharma, Rakesh Sharma, Ajay Mehta, Dev Raj, Dheraj Kumar, Ashok Khanna and others.
