JWAM protests against installation of Smart Electricity Meters

JAMMU, Aug 7: Led by their President Sunil Dimple, Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) activists here today staged a protest demonstration against the alleged installation of four lakh smart, pre-paid and post-paid electricity meters in Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion Dimple demanded that LED lamps should be installed on main roads of Jammu City and further added that installation of the said meters should be opposed.
He further said that cables boxes, pillars etc installed by PDD, JMC, IRCON and others are burning away due to substandard work and demanded CBI probe into this.
JWAM President also said that PDD grid stations at Janipur and Gladni are defunct due to which there are power cuts for 15 to 18 hours.
He appealed to the Governor N.N Vohra to establish a new receiving station of 50 MVA at Janipur to overcome the load problem and the curtailment as Janipur power station is 40 years old and has become defunct.
He further said that transformers in many localities of Jammu have damaged but there is no one to pay any heed to the plight of the people.
Those who were present in the protest were Sham Saroop, Manjit Anand, Ajay Mehta, Rajesh, Chaman Pawar, Anil Abrol, Mohan Lal Sharma, Sachin Soi, Chuni Lal Bhat, Vijay Sharma, Ashok Kumar, Arjun Kumar and others.
