JAMMU, Apr 5: The activists of Jammu West Assembly Movement urged the State Government to stop the implementation of National Food Security Act, adding the people of the State are in great trouble.
A protest demonstration led by Sunil Dimple, president, Jammu West Assembly Movement was held against the Union CAPD Ministry for giving wheat in place of atta to the people. Besides, no kerosene oil, sugar and atta was available in Government ration depots and also there was no-proper implementation of the National Food Security Act in the State.
Addressing the protesters, Dimple alleged that large number of genuine ration cards have been cancelled and genuine consumers, who are permanent residents and were having life- long ration cards were not being issued ration by the ration depots.
Dimple appealed the people and gave them a call not to lift the wheat from the ration depots.
Dimple demanded that 10 kg atta per member should be given to each family, as 7 kg per member is not sufficient and all the ration card holders BPL, APL families should get the benefit of the NFSA.
He alleged no kerosene oil is being supplied to the depots for the last three months and the quantity of oil has also been reduced, from 5 litres to 3 litres per ration card.
Dimple demanded for the inclusion of edible oil, sugar, salt, pulses, vegetables, LPG and kerosene oil in the NFSA from the State Government side.
