JAMMU, Jan 2: First Puisne Judge of State High Court Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir was today appointed as Acting Chief Justice as incumbent Chief Justice is retiring on January 5.
Born on May 28, 1957 at village Rajpora in Pulwama, Justice Yaqoob Mir did LL.B from Kashmir University and joined the Bar. He practised as Advocate from 1981 to 1993 and appointed as District & Sessions Judge on May 27, 1993.
He remained posted as Principal District and Sessions Judge, Baramulla, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Anantnag, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Srinagar, Special Judge, Anti Corruption, Kashmir, Registrar General, High Court of J&K and Principal District & Sessions Judge, Srinagar.
He was elevated as Additional Judge of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir on November 23, 2007 and appointed as Permanent Judge of High Court on October 1, 2009.
