JAMMU, Mar 19: Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar, Acting Chief Justice (Patron-in-Chief J&K SLSA) today held a video conference with Chairpersons of DLSAs of eleven districts namely, Kupwara, Baramulla, Srinagar, Anantnag, Reasi, Kathua, Rajouri, Poonch, Leh, Udhampur and Jammu regarding implementation of Victim Compensation Scheme 2013 in the State.
Justice Sudhakar stressed upon Chairpersons of DLSAs (Principal District & Sessions Judges) to ensure the implementation of the scheme in letter and spirit.
He impressed upon the DLSAs to depute Para Legal Volunteers to identify the victims that have been left out and bring them under the ambit of the scheme so that they can get the benefits they are entitled to. The DLSAs were also asked to submit regular follow up action on monthly basis to the Member Secretary, J&K SLSA.
Justice Sudhakar also asked that at the time of deciding the criminal cases, the Judicial Officers should invariably apply their mind to the right of compensation of the victims under the scheme and make the recommendations accordingly as per the scheme.
The video conference was also attended by Registrar General, J&K High Court Sanjay Dhar, Director, J&K State Judicial Academy Abdul Rashid Malik, Principal Secretary to the Chief Justice, High Court of J&K Jawad Ahmed and Member Secretary, J&K Legal Service Authority R. N. Wattal.
