JAMMU, May 10: President of India today appointed Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, Judge of the J&K High Court, as Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.
A notification in this regard was issued by Department of Justice, Union Ministry of Law and Justice.
Few days back, Supreme Court Collegium had recommended Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir as Chief Justice of Meghalaya. Justice Mir is the senior most Judge from Jammu and Kashmir High Court.
The post of Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court had fallen vacant following retirement of Justice Tarun Agarwala in the month of April this year.
