SRINAGAR, May 10: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) senior leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig has said the focus of PDP’s agenda and effort is the transformation of the State into a progressive unit where people get justice, political empowerment, modern amenities and development.
While addressing the party card holders of Eidgah constituency here today, Baig said Jammu and Kashmir has unfortunately been reduced to a begging bowl due to the wrong policies pursued in the past.
“There is no State in the country which is blessed by nature with such diverse resource base. But unfortunately we have been made victims of a propaganda that Jammu and Kashmir cannot survive even for a minute without charity and doles. We have to free our selves from this mind set and use our energies gainfully to address the acute problems faced by and climb up to the next level of development”, he said.
Baig alleged that plagued by ineptitude, disorder and corruption, the political structure of the present coalition Government has completely Collapsed resulting in the paralysis of the State’s administrative structure as well. “And it is a pity that the Chief Minister instead of improving his performance is busy blaming everybody except his own ways for putting the State and its people into this quagmire,” he said.
Blaming Omar Abdullah-led Government for pushing the J&K and Srinagar in particular into a state of political and governance morass, former Finance Minister and senior party leader Tariq Hameed Karra said with the support of people PDP can pull the State out of present anarchy and rot and put the decaying system of governance back on track.
On this occasion MLA Peerzada Mansoor Hussain accused the NC of enforcing death, destruction and darkness on Srinagar city dwellers.
Senior party leaders chief spokesman Naeem Akhtar, Mohd Altaf Bukhari, district president and MLC Mohd Ashraf Mir, Ab Hameed Kosheen, Ab Raouf Bhat, Dr Ali Mohd Wani, Jahangir Wani and others were also present and spoke to the convention.
