Jung Bhadur inaugurates U-16 Cricket Tournament; Vishal Rising Stars scripts win

JAMMU, Apr 13: Former Judge, Member Human Rights Commission and Member Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), Jung Bahadur Singh Jamwal inaugurated Under-16 1st Patel Memorial Invitational Cup in an impressive and well attended function at Parade Ground, here today.
Mr Jung was the chief guest on the occasion, who interacted with the players of both the teams.
In the inaugural tie, Vishal Rising Stars registered emphatic win over Bhatia Cricket Academy to stay alive in this 6-team tournament.
The tournament is being organized by Patel Cricket Club under the aegis of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA).
The tournament was inaugurated in presence of Vijay Sharma, Secretary Patel Club, RK Bhat SSP, Rajesh Gill Chief Prosecuting Officer, Rajesh Dhar Working Committee Member JKCA, Vivek Shekhar DySP, Sachin Singh, Sudhir Singh, Ashesh Sharma, Sanjay Sharma and Madan Mohan.
While addressing the budding cricketers, the chief guest advised them to always maintain discipline and play with sporting spirit to set an example for others.
The chief guest also assured the players of holding more matches to provide them ample opportunity for honing their skill.
In the opening match, Vishal Rising Stars defeated Bhatia Cricket Academy by 25 runs.
Batting first, Vishal Rising Stars scored 148 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 20 overs. Musaif top scored with 76 runs, while Kamalpreet contributed 51 runs to the total. From bowling side, Abhishek took 3 wickets, while Gitansh claimed 1 wicket.
In reply, Bhatia Cricket Academy managed to score 123 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted overs, thus lost the match by 25 runs. Abhishek (23), Rohit (22) and Mankin (12) were the main scorers. From bowling side, Surya took 3 wickets, while Sachin Sharma bagged 2 and Praful Dhar claimed 1 wicket. Musaif was adjudged as man of the match for his brilliant batting display.
The match was officiated by Saleem-ur- Rehman and Rahul Kumar.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Vishal Rising Stars will lock horns with Sehwag Cricket Academy at 1.30 pm.
