REASI, May 16: Hitting out at State Government for failing to provide much needed infrastructure and manpower to majority of the administrative units created over two and a half years back, the former Minister and senior Congress leader Jugal Kishore Sharma today said the people are being deprived of their right to avail hassle free services at their door steps by providing half-measured and incomplete administrative units particularly in district Reasi.
While addressing Congress workers in a party convention, here today, Sharma said most of the newly created tehsils lack vital components of an administration as the allied departments are yet to be made functional.
“A tehsil can not function by mere placing a Tehsildar and BDO but missing allied departments like Education, Agriculture, Horticulture, Social Welfare, Treasury and several others,” he said and alleged that PDP-BJP coalition Government has failed to make the new administrative units operational on ground.
Demanding to speed up the process of setting up allied departments in newly created tehsils, Sharma warned that Congress would launch an agitation if the State Government fails to do so in the near future.
The Congress leader also raised the issue of several projects meant for eight districts, established under the Congress led Ghulam Nabi Azad regime, getting stuck for one reason or the other. “Azad Sahib created eight new districts when he was Chief Minister of the State. Work on constructing Mini Secretariats was taken up on war footing. Reasi also got the status of district then and a Mini Secretariat was constructed here and made functional in record time, however, the construction of staff quarters envisaged for the employees posted here has not been taken up yet,” he said and asked to know to reasons behind delay in the project.
Jugal Kishore also reiterated the demand for establishment of Government Degree Colleges at Katra, Pouni and Bhamag and upgrading the status of Tehsil Bhamag and Niabat Ransoo to Sub- Division level.
Referring to the continuous ceasefire violations along the IB and LoC besides recent attack on army jawans in Poonch, Jugal Kishore said it was high time to exhibit 56 inch chest otherwise it would also turn out to be one more ‘jumla’ of PM Modi.
