JAMMU, Aug 19: MP Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha Constituency Jugal Kishore Sharma, along with State vice-president & Yatra overall Incharge Yudhvir Sethi and a number of senior leaders, led the ‘Tiranga Yatra’ in Jammu Rural district which started from Dansal in Nagrota Assembly Constituency and after passing through Nagrota town, Bantalab, Kangral, Marjali, Seri, Ranjan, Thati and Domi, it proceeded towards border town of Pargwal.
Jugal Kishore Shrama, while addressing the party activists and public during the rally, said that maximum people of present generation have not witnessed the freedom struggle and may not even be aware of the atrocities committed on Indians by British, while they were fighting for freedom. Hence, it becomes our duty to reach the people and remind them about the supreme sacrifices of the patriots, who left the luxuries of life and jumped into freedom movement.
“Azaadi 70″, celebrations on 70th Independence Day include scooter, motor cycles rallies to be taken out by MPs across their respective Parliamentary constituencies with a motive of making people aware about the various aspects of freedom struggle and the role of thousands of patriots in getting their motherland freed. “Today we boast of living in a democratic country where we have freedom in many matters but for this freedom we have made supreme sacrifices. It becomes our prime duty to defeat anti-national forces and strengthen the nationalist forces so that the freedom and democracy become more strong”.
Yudhvir Sethi said that the ‘Tiranga Yatra’ is getting overwhelming response in entire constituency and we feel happy that the objective of making public aware about the struggle for Independence is being conveyed in a right way.
BJP State Secretary Aseem Gupta, State Working Committee Member Nand Kishore, Jammu Rural district president Omi Khajuria Seh Prabhari Suresh Sharma and Mandal presidents also accompanied the MP during the yatra.
Meanwhile, the Doda-Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency ‘Tiranga Yatra’, on reaching Chenani, was received by BJP State secretary & Udhampur district Prabhari Anil Parihar, local MLA Dina Nath Bhagat and other leaders.
Later, they led it and passed through main bazars of Chenani town and also addressed public to brief about the motive of taking out such yatra.
Anil Parihar said that it is indeed a rare moment in his political life that he has been chosen by the party to be part of the ‘Tiranga Yatra’ being taken out in connection with celebrations of the 70th Independence Day. He said that although the people of his generation were not part of the struggle for freedom which bore fruits in 1947 but getting associated with the Yatra in honour of the Tricolour and the great martyrs is itself a matter of satisfaction.
MLA Dina Nath Bhagat said that the present situation in the State needs unity among the nationalist forces so that those posing threat to the unity and integrity of the country are not in a position to raise their heads.
Pouni Unit of Bhartiya Janta Party under the supervision and survellience of Adv Ajay Nanda , MoS and MLA Reasi, organized an impressive Tiranga Yatra in Pouni town. A larger number of local people including the representatives from the local Panchyats participated in this rally by carrying national flags in their hands.
Addressing the gathering Nanda said that he always feels proud to carry the Tricolor in his hand which reminds him of great power which this nation gives to every citizen of this country. He said ” today we are enjoying freedom and organizing such programmes only because of our freedom fighters, who laid down their lives to ensure that we get freedom”.
