NEW DELHI: Riding on the strong buzz around it and the popularity of the original , ‘Judwaa 2’, the sequel to the Salman Khan-starrer ‘Judwaa’ , has taken a good  opening in India and worldwide, trade sources said today.

The film, which features Varun Dhawan in a double role and Tapsee Pannu and Jacqueline Fernandez, released in over 4000 cinema screens worldwide today. The film, directed by David Dhawan, released in over 3500 cinema screens across India and 625 screens overseas.

According to trade expert Taran Adarsh, ‘Judwaa 2’ has opened to excellent house across the country today. He said that the film has fetched one of the best starts in UAE-GCC at 265,000 Dollars [Rs  1.73 cr], which is 40 per cent higher than the opening taken by Varun’s earlier film ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’. Trade experts  Komal Nahta? said that the opening taken by ‘Judwaa 2’ had been fantastic by and large.

”Judwaa 2 opening fantastic by and large but adversely affected in Gujarat and C.I.circuits due to Navratri festivities. But bound to pick up there,”Nahata tweeted. Trade analysts said that the film opened to good occupancy of 40 per cent-45 per cent in the morning shows.  Houseful shows were reported in the evening in many places across the country.

Trade experts put the good opening of the film to the tremendous buzz around it. Experts say that ‘Judwaa 2’ is perceived by cinegoers as a massy entertainer. The film has recorded good advance booking which, trade sources feel, could boost it’s box office performance. Another factor in favour of the film is the long weekend that the film enjoys. (AGENCIES)
