SRINAGAR, June 7: Under the guidance and patronage of Chief Patron of State Judicial Academy, Justice N. Paul Vasanthakumar, Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Committee of Judges, State Judicial Academy (Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar, Chairman and Justice Hasnain Masoodi, Member), one day refresher course for Munsiffs of 2010 and 2013 batch of Kashmir province on “(a) Sections 9, 10 and 11 of Code of Civil Procedure” and “(b) Sections 100, 488, 514 of Code of Criminal Procedure” and (c) Moot Court including Order writing” was organized by the State Judicial Academy.
Justice Bashir A. Kirmani, former Judge of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and presently Chairman, State Consumer Redressal Commission, was the Resource person.
The programme was conducted by Pawan Dev Kotwal, Director, State Judicial Academy. In his introductory remarks, Director, State Judicial Academy deliberated on the need for such refresher programmes for the Judicial Officers.
Justice Kirmani exhaustively explained the provisions of Sections 9, 10 and 11 of the Code of Civil Procedure. He enlightened the participants about the trial of civil suit and in particular told the participants as to how the trials of civil cases is to be managed. He also enlightened the participants with anecdotes and instances, the ways and means which they can adopt while dealing with civil and criminal cases and reminded the Judicial Officers about their powers, duties and responsibilities.
Director, State Judicial Academy also dealt with the topic “Section 100, 488, 514 and 540 of the Code of Criminal Procedure”.
The others present on the occasion were Pankaj Kumar Gupta, Deputy Registrar and Abdul Gani Khan, Faculty Member, State Judicial Academy.
