Later, addressing the gathering PCC  chief,  GA Mir congratulated  Rahul Gandhi on his unopposed election to the post of President of the party, on behalf of entire rank and file of Congress cadres in the State. He said the entire rank and file of the party is solidly behind the leadership of  Rahul Gandhi and described that his uncontested election has proved that he is unchallenged leader of the party in the entire country.
He said that for quite some time the demands for elevation of  Rahul Gandhi were emerging from the party cadres from different parts of the country, especially the younger leadership but Rahul Gandhi always maintained that he would prefer to come through the process of organizational elections. He said the process of organizational elections started with the membership drive and elections of  booth level delegates  upwards to PCC level were held in a transparent manner, by an independent body of the party monitoring the process throughout the country under the overall supervision of election commission. And finally the delegates throughout the country expressed
their unanimous choice in favor of  Rahul Gandhi, as no one else came forward to contest or was proposed by the delegates as a candidate.
This shows a unanimous acceptability of Rahul Gandhi in the party cadres who was already leading the party from the front against all odds and challenges of time, from past several years under overall guidance of Sonia Gandhi.
Mir claimed the rank and file of the party feel that an energetic, dynamic and undeterred leader Rahul Gandhi would lead the party more successfully like her mother  Sonia Gandhi who commanded lot of respect in the hearts and minds of Congress workers and country men in general.
