JU VC visits IMFA

JAMMU, May 22: Jammu University Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma today visited temporary building of Institute of Music and Fine Arts, (IMFA) Jammu at Luthra College of Education, Talab Tillo.
The VC patiently listened to the grievances of IMFA staff members and assured them to fulfill their respective aspirations under norms in the days to come. He termed artist as rare gift of Almighty and art as boon.
Prof Sharma suggested the staff members to initiate self-supporting course both in Visual and Performing Arts in the forthcoming summer vacations to promote and propagate art and culture amongst fresh aspirants.
Prof Poonam Chaudhary, Incharge Principal IMFA, highlighted the achievements of IMFA, which was established way back in 1965 as hobby courses. It was the dedicated spirit of these staff members and administration in general that local students brought International Award, Padmashree, many National Awards, National level Awards and represented nation at international level many a times, she added.
It may be mentioned here that in the recent past, Government had handed over the twin Institutes of J&K to the respective Universities from J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages to uplift the academic standards as it is vougue in other Universities across the country.
The Vice-Chancellor, during his visit, was accompanied by Prof Manoj Dhar, Registrar JU, Jai Kumar Sharma, Special Secretary to VC and others.
