JU VC for establishing e-Resource Centre in Dhanvantri Library

JAMMU, June 15: Jammu University Vice-Chancellor Prof Manoj Dhar today visited the Dhanvantri Central Library on the campus and emphasised on establishment of an e-Resource Centre there.
The Vice-Chancellor took a round of Stacks sections, Reading rooms, and Periodical Sections and enquired about various facilities being provided to the students, scholars and faculty. He underlined the need to ramp up the requisite technologies available at the Central Library to make it the state of the art central library and emphasised on establishment of an e-Resource Centre.
“The best of the facilities can be clubbed at one place to ensure that the students and scholars of the university get enhanced access to e-contents e.g. popular magazines, research journals, theses, reports, e-books, e-journals, and online databases in Sciences, Humanities, and Social Sciences to make their studies at par with any other institute of repute,” he stressed, adding that as University is steadily climbing the well-acknowledged ranks of success, the more is the responsibility to carve a better niche when it comes to e-governance.
Prof Dhar advised that the librarian and the staff must put their heads together to ensure that seamless facilities are made available not only at the Central library but also at the Departmental libraries. The role of e-libraries has now become more & more significant after the outbreak of Coronavirus, he added.
Prof Arvind Jasrotia, Registrar JU, who accompanied the VC, assured that all the requisite help shall be rendered to the Central Library on behalf of the registry to make their functioning as per the objective and mission laid by the Vice-Chancellor.
Prof Versha Mehta, Librarian, while speaking on the occasion, said that the staff at the library is trying its best to sync itself with the current trend but in the days to come, Central Library will try its best to enhance its already infrastructure and give more e-access to its resources for students and scholars of the University of Jammu.
Dr Neeraj Sharma, Spl Secy to Vice-Chancellor, Dr Imran Farooq, PRO to VC, Dr Vikram Sahi, Computer Scientist, Dr Gurdev Singh, Deepti Padmanabhan, Assistant Administrative Officer, were present on the occasion.
