JAMMU, May 5: Jammu University unit of NSS organized a workshop on Cleanliness and Personality Development for the distance learners of the Directorate of Distance Education, JU.
The workshop was attended by 150 Post Graduate distance learners from different courses running through Directorate of Distance Education.
Prof V D Singh, in his inaugural address, stressed upon doing such events frequently for distance learners as these motivate the youth towards social services and can inculcate good habits also.
The first session was conducted by Prof Jasbir Singh who informed the participants how cleanliness can help to improve the personality of an individual. The second session was conducted by Dr Gautam Sharma who gave his talk on dental cleanliness and hygiene. Third session was conducted by Dr Sanjay Sharma who gave his talk on Environmental Cleanliness and its Impact on the Personality Development. The last session was conducted by Dr Anupama Vohra, in which activities were conducted by the participants and presentations made by them.
Earlier in the inaugural function, the winner of poster making and slogan writing competition were given prizes. In the slogan writing event, Kanika Sharma won the 1st prize, Bandana Kumari got 2nd and Sahil Khajuria won 3rd prize. In the Poster Making competition, Jayati Thapa won 1st prize, Lovely Verma 2nd prize and Rajani Kumari 3rd prize.
The judges of the event were Prof Neeru Sharma, Prof Anita Billawria and Dr Sanjay Sharma. Harmeet Singh, NSS volunteers from the DDE was given the Award of Appreciation for representing DDE in State events.
Dr Neharica Subhash presented vote of thanks. The programme was conducted by Dr Vandana Sharma. Shiv Dutt, Sumit Kumar and Navjot Bakshi helped in organizing the event. Prof Sandeep Tondon, Dr Seema Rohmetra, Dr Hema Gandotra, Dr Jaspal Warwal, Dr Seema Bhasin, Dr Raj Kumar, Gopal Sharma, Romesh Chander and other faculty members were also present on the occasion.
