JAMMU, Apr 23: The Jammu University is all set to conduct special audit of the expenditures incurred in Bhaderwah Campus, Directorate of Distance Education and Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance for the specific periods.
Besides, a probe into alleged irregularities in contractual appointment in the University from 2002 to 2010 is also being initiated.
Decisions in this regard were taken during the JU Council’s recently held meeting under the chairmanship of Governor N N Vohra, who is Chancellor of the University, official sources informed the Excelsior.
The Council deliberated upon recommendations of the high-level inquiry committee, which had prima facie established irregularities in utilization of funds in Bhaderwah Campus, DDE, DIQA and contractual appointments in the University, sources added.
On recommendations of the inquiry committee, the Council approved special audit of expenditures in Bhaderwah Campus during the tenure of then Rector Prof Irshad Hamaal and in DDE as well as in DIQA during the tenure of Dr Meenakshi Kilam, sources informed.
It may be recalled that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had constituted a high-level inquiry committee, headed by then Chief Secretary Madhav Lal to look into complaints of alleged irregularities in Jammu University. The committee had submitted its report last year and suggested special audit of some departments.
