JU Syndicate discusses items of academic importance

JAMMU, Apr 18: The special meeting of the Syndicate of University of Jammu was held here this afternoon under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof Manoj Dhar.
In the meeting, threadbare discussions were held on the items of academic importance. Dr Meenakshi Kilam, Registrar JU, presented the various academic items in the meeting.
VC Manoj Dhar, in his introductory remarks, elaborated on various recent initiatives of the University, particularly in creating an ecosystem of Innovation and Entreprene-urship. He informed about establishment of Startups under Business Incubation & Innovation Centre, Skill development Courses and Industry- Academia interface. He said that the University of Jammu would do hand holding of various affiliated Colleges and will sign MOUs with various international Universities identified by MHRD.
Arun Kumar Mehta, Principal Secretary to Govern-ment, Finance Department, Financial Advisor (Univer-sities), J&K Government, emphasized that University should lay greater emphasis on Business Incubation and Skill Development courses. He suggested that efforts should be made to introduce applied Courses in the University.
Shadi Lal Pandita, Director, Codes, J&K Government, was also present in the meeting. The Syndicate meeting was attended by Prof Naresh Padha, Dean, Faculty of Sciences, JU; Prof Neelam Saraf, Prof Vivek Gupta, Prof Satnam Kour Raina, Prof Mufeed Ahmed, (Dean, The Business School, University of Kashmir), Prof Nilofer Hassan Khan (KU), Dr Sameru Sharma (Principal, GCET/ Dean, Faculty of Engineering), Prof Samia Rashid, Principal/ Dean, GMC Srinagar and Dr Kartar Chand Badgal, Principal, GDC Boys Kathua .
