JAMMU, Mar 13: Owing to the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct in view of ensued Lok Sabha elections, several agenda items in the Jammu University Syndicate meeting could not get approval of the decision taking body.
According to sources, the Financial Advisor B B Vyas asked the JU authorities to defer the items involving financial implications till lifting of the Modal Code of Conduct or seek prior approval of the Chief Electoral Officer for the same.
These items included promotions, confirmations, conversion of some posts of Professors to Assistant Professors etc.
Since JU is a State funded university, approval of these items would amount of violation of MCC, Mr Vyas is learnt to have suggested in the Syndicate meeting.
However, the other routine items related to day-to-day affairs of the university were approved by the Syndicated, which was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor Prof M P S Ishar.
All members of the Syndicate attended the meeting and there was more than 60 items in the agenda.
