JAMMU, May 9: The Jammu University Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Employees Association today held a meeting at the university campus, under the chairmanship of its president R L Kaith.
The meeting expressed concern over the inordinate delay being caused to implement the Supreme Court’s ‘Interim Order’ dated March 18, 2016 which reads as “The operation of the impugned order passed by the High Court shall remain stayed. This order, however, shall not prevent the High Court from considering eligible candidates for promotion to the next higher post provided any vacancies for such consideration are available”. Association general secretary S Surjeet Singh Heer said that during the last one year a number of vacancies have been filled through promotions by setting aside the said Apex Court’s order and ignoring the eligible category employees.
The meet  urged upon JU  to have the Apex Court’s order implemented in promotions to enable the category employees to benefit even though belatedly.
