Excise sleuths conduct raids in Kathua

KATHUA, May 9: The Excise sleuths have destroyed 950 kgs of lahan, 220 pouches and 250 bottles of illicit liquor at Chhibachak, Persochak and Tanda areas of Kathua district to arrest the menace of illicit dis-tillation of liquor during the raids conducted today.
The raids were conducted on the directives of the Excise Commissioner, Mohammed Javed Khan and under the supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Ghanshyam Singh.  The Excise team from Kathua which conducted the raids was led by ETO Excise Range Kathua,  Sandeep Gupta and ETO Eradication Wing Jammu,  Suraj Chander Singh along with Inspectors Excise Arun Kumar, Shadi Lal, S I Prashant Mathur and  other Excise staff.
The raids were the part of the drive launched by the Excise Department to curb the increase in menace of illicit dis-tillation of liquor. The department has tightened its noose on violators of the various provisions of the J&K Excise Act in entire Jammu division.
