JU organises workshop on gender sensitization

JAMMU, Oct 16: To sensitise the students of University of Jammu about the gender issues, an awareness workshop on Gender sensitization” was jointly organized by the Committee Against Sexual Harassment (CASH) and Department of Students Welfare. Speaking on the occasion Prof. Poonam Dhawan, Dean Academic Affairs  emphasized that a culture of silence has to be broken by the sufferers and the society. She further asked the students to report any incidence of the sexual harassment on the campus to the Committee for Sexual Harassment (CASH) of Jammu University.
Earlier Prof. Arti Bakshi, Chairperson, CASH, emphasized the importance of the issues and objectives to be covered in the workshop.  Speaking on the occasion Prof. Satnam Kour, resource person dwelt on the functioning of the CASH. Dr. Savita Nayyar another resource person spoke at length regarding various legal provisions dealing with the sexual harassment at working places. She also informed the gathering that the Complaint Committees are mandatory for every organization.
Prof. Pankaj Srivastava, Dean Students Welfare, JU gave formal vote of thanks.  The programme was well attended by large numbers of the students and faculty members, employees and members of CASH.   The programme was compeered by Surbhi Chalotra, Secretary Students Cultural Council.
