JU orders probe into exam controversy

JAMMU, July 3: Taking serious cognizance of the reported incident at Kathua Degree College where a B Ed candidate was allegedly provided a writer and separate room for appearing in the examination, the Jammu University has ordered a probe to look into the matter and submit a report.
According to sources, a four-member inquiry committee has been constituted to investigate the reported irregularity and violation of norms in providing a writer to the candidate for appearing in the exam.
Headed by Rector Kathua Campus Prof Neelu Rohmetra as convener and comprising Prof Dipankar Sen, Dr Sanjay Gupta and Deputy Registrar Raj Kumar as the members, the inquiry committee will submit its report to the Vice-Chancellor within ten day, sources added.
Pertinent to mention that during the ongoing B Ed examinations at Kathua Degree College, a former Principal of the same institute was allegedly provided a separate room for appearing in the exam. Further, the said person also managed to get a writer that too a B Ed student, for exam on the medical ground.
Meanwhile, earlier in the morning , the NSF activists held a protest under the leadership of Sukhdev Singh and raised slogans against the JU Administration as well as Controller of Examination. They were demanding an inquiry into the whole episode and action against the culprits.
Addressing the protesting NSF activists outside the Examination Deptt on the campus, Sukhdev Singh alleged that Controller of Examination had lost his credibility and responsibility following detection of irregularities during the B Ed exam at Degree College Kathua.
Among those who were present in the protest included Qayoom Malik, PP Singh, Barket Tahir, Akshey Sharma, Tanveer Ahmed, Chiman Singh, Jakar, Javed, Akram, Rishikesh Rana, Manmohan Singh and others.
