JAMMU, Mar 3: Up in arms against delaying tactics of the Jammu University administration, the executive body of the non-teaching Employees Union, JU and non gazetted Employees Union, JU, today suspended work for three hour and held protest demonstration in front of Vice-Chancellor Secretariat on the campus.
They raised slogans in support of their demands and against the JU administration. They alleged that the JU authority have failed to fulfill the genuine demands of the employees even after the lapse of 2 month period after agreement where it was agreed that the said demands would be fulfilled within fifteen working days. The protesting employees appealed the Chancellor and Pro Chancellor to personally intervene in the matter.
After suspending work, the employees under the one banner of JUNTEU and JUNGEU, took out a protest march on the campus and then converged in front of the Vice-Chancellor Secretariat.
They staged a protest dharna, which was addressed by leaders of both the unions. Speakers, while reiterating their demands, highlighted many other issues which is the pre-requisition for better working conditions in the University of Jammu.
They said that dilly dallying attitude of the University authorities and some decisions taken in University Syndicate meeting forced the Non Teaching & Non Gazetted employees to adopt the agitational path. They also condemned the order issued by the Registrar with regard to `No Work No Pay’ on first day of protest demonstration.
The demonstration was addressed by Pawan Singh Bhau, Vijay Kumar, Ashwani Bakshi, Sham Sharma , Vikas Langer, Banarasi Lal, Vidhya Lal, Padam Shri Padamani, Abhinav Sharma, Sanjeev Chadha, Niranjan Singh Charak, Joginder Singh Chib, Kewal Kumar, Sunita Amla, Jarnail Singh, Jasjeet Singh and Raghubir Singh Bandral.
According to JUNTEU and JUNGEU, similar protest demonstrations were also held in the offsite campuses of the University of Jammu.
