JAMMU, June 2: Non-Gazetted Employees Union of Jammu University has threatened to go on indefinite strike if their long pending demands are not conceded immediately.
Addressing a press conference, here today, the NGEU president Vijay Kumar accused the Jammu Universities administration of being insensitive towards the demands and issues of the class IV employees. “We submitted the charter of demands to the Vice-Chancellor a number of times but no attention was paid towards the demands, which include quota for class IV employees in promotion, as approved by the University Council,” he said.
Even as the JU Council has approved 17 percent quota for the promotion of graduate class IV employees as Junior Assistant, the JU authorities are not implementing the same for the no reasons, he explained and added that the Kashmir has already implemented the said policy.
The NGEU president also drew attention towards unprecedented delay in regularization of Casual Labours namely Darbar Singh, Anchal Singh and Karnail Chand. “The authorities had assured that the regularization order would be issued immediately after the consent of the Committee of Empowerment but now it is learnt that the university is going to refer the case to Syndicate,” Vijay Kumar said.
The NGEU also highlighted the issue of regularization of Casual employees at Bhaderwah campus and alleged that the university was not issuing order in this regard despite vacant posts lying there.
“We have given so much time to the university authorities for conceding out demands and no the NGEU is left with no option other than to go on strike without any further delay,” Vijay Kumar said.
