JU Law School organizes panel discussion by Gandhian activists

JAMMU, Apr 26: A panel discussion was organized in the Jammu University Law School, in collaboration with Gandhi Peace Foundation, Jammu Chapter & Gandhi Global Family, J&K.
The panelists included eminent Gandhian activists namely Radha Bhatt, former chairperson Gandhi Peace Foundation, New Delhi and S P Verma, president Gandhi Global Family. Theme of the discussion was ‘Role of youth in peace building process’.
Radha Bhatt, in reference to the Inter – community conflicts like the ones in Assam, Kashmir or elsewhere in the country, stressed upon the need for dialogues and deliberations rather than the force to establish true democratic systems.
Further, she focussed upon the role of universities and other bodies in the States in preparing young volunteers through Gandhian Centres and other like minded organizations for initiating the peace processes. She also highlighted the manner in which the youth of today can play a special role in building an atmosphere of peaceful sustainable societies.
SP Verma, president Gandhi Global Family, also talked on the similar lines. ‘In the contemporary scenario  filled with an environment of unrest, fear and  insecurities, all around , the entire world is looking towards India for the Gandhian philosophy of non-violence and peace reconciliation,” he said.
The panelists later addressed to the queries of the students in the interaction session.
Earlier, Dr Sanjay Gupta, Director Law School, presented the welcome address wherein he introduced the dignitaries to the students of the Law School. Dr Seema Rohmetra, Sr Assistant Professor and Coordinator Gandhi Peace Foundation, Jammu Chapter, coordinated the discussion.
On the occasion, Dr Seema Rohmetra was also honoured by Radha Bhatt through presentation of UN scarf for her contributions towards promotion of Gandhian peace philosophy.
Rajneesh Khajuria, Assistant Professor, presented the formal vote of thanks.
