JAMMU, Oct 14:  Pursuant to the University Council resolve for introducing the courses having employability potential, the Jammu University Academic Council, which met today under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, decided to introduce Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing and Sales Management for the current academic session.
The Academic Council also approved incorporation of name of the affiliated college from where a candidate has passed his/ her undergraduate or post-graduate course in the marks sheets and degree.
During the meeting, 20 agenda items were discussed along with the action taken report on the resolutions of the last Academic Council held in February this year.
Approval was also accorded to the implementation of the statutes governing the Choice Based Credit system for Masters Degree Programme through regular mode in the main campus. Besides various other academic matters were discussed and endorsed.
Pertinent to mention that Academic Council is the highest academic body of the University which takes important decisions related to all the academic issues of the University and its affiliated colleges.
At the outset of the meeting, Vice Chancellor apprised the members about the developments and achievements of University of Jammu during the past one-year.
The meeting was attended by Prof Neelam Saraf, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof Posh Charak, Dean Research Studies, Deans of various faculties, Heads of the Departments, Conveners, Boards of Studies, College Principals and other officials.  Prof Manoj K Dhar, Registrar presented the agenda items.
Prof M Y Shah, Dean, Applied Science & Technology and Prof Syeda Rukaya, Dean Oriental Learning, both from the University of Kashmir, Prof Deshbandhu, Director College Development Council, Prof Keshav Sharma, Controller of Examinations, and Jaikumar Sharma, Special Secretary to Vice-Chancellor as well as officers and staff of Academic section also attended the meeting.
