JAMMU, Nov 12: Non-Gazetted Employees Union of University of Jammu held two hours token strike here today.
The strike of the NGEU of the Jammu University entered 57th day here today. The gathering at the venue, opposite Administrative Block was addressed by Vijay Kumar, president and some other members of the Union. They lauded the unity of the JU employees, which stood like a rock during this pandemic for the ongoing protest.
The striking employees holding banners, raised slogans in support of their demands. They also played sound with utensils to draw the attention of the JU authorities to wake them up from deep slumber.
The protesting employees are demanding that the enhanced grade pay Rs 1800 was approved since 2009, the said order was again reviewed and recommended for implementation by the University Council in 2017 with effect from 2009. They also demanded counting the service of helpers and regularisation of HGRC employees.
The Union also organized a rally around the Campus along with all the supporting members and they later dispersed at around 1 pm. They sought the intervention of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene personally as the JU authorities have turned blind eye towards the issues of its employees.
