JU appeals agitating employees to call-off strike; VC reviews situation

JAMMU, July 18: To review functioning of the Jammu University and  especially to take stock of the situation in the wake of ongoing token strike by  JU Non-Gazetted Employees Union,  an interactive session with the faculty and officers of the University was held under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma, here this evening .
The Vice-Chancellor informed the participants about all the developments that had taken place during the course of interactions with the office bearers of the JUNGEU and said that most of the demands of the Union  have been considered and accepted while  the presidents of  JUTA, JUOWA and JUNTEU had also requested the president of  JUNGEU to call off the strike.
The participants unanimously appealed to the striking employees to resume their duties since most of their demands have been acceded to and the pending demands shall be placed and vigorously pursued with the competent bodies.
“The agitating employees should withdraw the strike in the interest of the University in general and students in particular as the academic session is about to begin”, the participants urged the striking employees.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor called for  collective effort and team work to steer this institution of higher learning  to the heights of success. “We have already traversed a long way towards this destination and more is needed to be done to achieve overall excellence”,  he said.
