JTC, SKF protest enters 488th day

JAMMU, Feb 3: The protest launched by Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) in support of various demands of displaced Pandits including enhancement of cash assistance entered 488th day today.
Addressing the protesters, Shadi Lal Pandita, president JTC and SKF said that the BJP Government has once again done injustice to Kashmiri Pandits as it has not given anything to the displaced people from Valley in 2022 budget. Pandita said “We have been protesting for 488 days but the Government is not meeting our genuine demands,. The Government should meet our demands as soon as possible”, he added.
The members said because in this era of high inflation, relief holders are not able to make their both ends meet due to which two relief holders have also committed suicide. The Government should increase the monthly cash relief of the relief holders from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000 .They said that unemployed educated youth of the community are fed up with out employment so it is the responsibility of the Government to provide a package of 20,000 jobs for KP unemployed educated youth. They said 32 years compensation for the losses to farmers, orchardists and balanced Ex-gratia of gutted, damaged houses to be given to KPs. The members said that Kashmiri Pandits are fed up with 32 years of exile and they want to return to their motherland so for their rehabilitation three satellites townships be constructed near Baramulla, Srinagar and Anantnag.
They are also demanding Kashmiri Pandits should be given political reservations and minority status.
