JAMMU, Nov 3: On the 32nd day of sit -in agitation held by Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF), today a protest demonstration was held by the activists of two organisation at Lane No 7 in Jagti township in support of their demands.
The protestors reiterated their demands including enhancement of monthly cash relief from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000 and Government employment to those families where there is Government employee.
Addressing the protestors Shadi Lal Pandita, president JTC, SKF J&K said that Pandits from Kashmir have been forced to live in exile for over 30 years and the Government has failed to resettle them in Kashmir Valley. This is being done under a conspiracy against this community which has a rich cultural history of over 5000 years.
Pandita said the left over immovable property of the community members has been mostly encroached while the fruit growing and other trees were uprooted putting the community to a heavy loss and for this the Central and UT Governments are responsible who fail to resettle the community over the years and have left the issue in cold storage.
He said that sit-in agitation will continue till the demanded are met. He demanded free ration to those pensioners whose pension is very low. Besides, a job package of 20,000 Jobs be given to unemployed youth of KPs and out of these 5,000 Class VI should also be created for those the unemployed youth who could not send their children for higher education after matriculation due to poverty. He also demanded interest free loans to over aged youth and rehabilitation of the community in there Satellite townships near Baramull, Srinagar and Anantnag.
