JAMMU, Apr 15: The Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) has postponed the protest sit-in for some time due to the fast outbreak of COVID and alarming situation created by the Pandemic. Shadi Lal Pandita president of JTC and SKF while addressing a meeting at Jagti said that due to outbreak of Corona virus we have postponed the protest sit-in which has been going on for the last over six months.
Pandita said “We have postponed the protest sit -in for some time and the Government should meet our demands as soon as possible. If the Government does not meet the demands ,we will start protest sit-in again”. Pandita said that the monthly cash relief should be increased from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000 besides, 20,000 posts should be given to the unemployed educated youth of the community and those families should be given preference which have no serving Government employee.
He said that on-spot recruitment should be made in Police in Jagti township, other camps and non camps so that the migrant youth could also get the opportunity to work in the police force. Pandita said that there are many pending demands of Kashmiri Pandits such as 31 years property loss, pending payment of burnt houses, free rations for the pensioners who receive very low pensions, interest-free bank loans for over-aged youth, removal of encroachment from Kashmiri Pandits ‘land and property and religious places ,permanent rehabilitation of KPs in three townships in Kashmir Valley. The Government should address all these demands immediately, he added.
