JAMMU, Apr 23: A delegation of Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC), Soan Kashmir Front J&K today called on Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo and apprised him about the plight of Kashmiri Pandits.
The Chief Secretary assured the delegation that efforts would be made to resolve the demands of the Kashmiri Pandits as soon as possible.
The demands that the delegation has placed before the Chief Secretary included that migrants have been forced to live in exile for 34 years and their difficulties are increasing day by day.
Pandita requested to Chief Secretary that the demands of the migrants should be resolved as soon as possible which included enhancement of monthly Relief. He said the relief holders are on protest for the last four years because the relief is very less and the migrants are not able to make their both ends meet due to high inflation. He demanded that the cash relief be increased from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000 for per family per month.
He said there is high unemployment in the Kashmiri Pandit community while hundreds of unemployed youth are losing their mental balance so a package of at least 20,000 jobs be given to the unemployed youth of the community so that the youth of the community can get employment.
Pandita demanded political empowerment and minority status for Kashmiri Pandits.
He said that two Parliament seats and four Assembly seats be reserved for Kashmiri Pandits besides, Kashmiri Pandits living in exile for last 34 years want to go back to their motherland and live in the Valley but they will not be able to go to their villages in the beginning so Government should rehabilitate them in three satellite townships near Srinagar, Baramulla and Anantnag. Moreover they should be compensated for 34 years loss in shape of crops, fruit and other property and unemployed over aged youth be given soft and interest free loans to start their business.
