JTC, SKF continue protest for 147th day

JAMMU, Feb 25: The Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC), Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) continued its protest sit-in for 147th day today at Jagti township near, here.
Addressing the protesters, the leaders of JTC and SKF accused the Government of steep price hike of petroleum products which has its cascading effects on overall prices of all commodities as well as economy of the country hitting the common man very hard.
They said under the prevailing circumstances when prices have sky rocketed it is totally difficult for the Kashmiri migrants dependent on meager cash doles to make their both ends meet.
Addressing the protesters Shadi Lal Pandita, president, JTC, SKF and convener of PCC Migrant Cell J&K demanded increase in the monthly cash relief of migrant relief holders from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000 immediately. Pandita said that a Government job should be given to those families whose no family member is a serving Government employee.
He demanded another employment package of 20,000 jobs for displaced people in Government, and public sector as well as Central Government departments besides J&K police and para military forces.
He also demanded free ration for migrant pensioners and compensation to migrant agriculturists, traders and orchardists for the losses suffered by them in last 31 years.
