JTC, SKF continue hunger strike, block Jagti road

JAMMU, Oct 17: The Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) J&K remained on chain hunger strike and protest on 16th day today. The protestors led by JTC and SKF chairman today blocked the Jagti road for one hour and warned to block the National Highway tomorrow as Government has failed to take positive steps in resolving the demands of the migrants.
Pandita appealed the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to visit Jagti where JTC and SKF activists are on fast for last 16 days and have an at and on spot study of the problems of camp inmates. He said the Kashmiri Pandits are the victims of the oppression whose has been also deceived by the Government which failed to meet the demands of the community.
While highlighting the issues of the migrants Pandita demanded increasing the monthly cash assistance of relief holders from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000.
He warned that if the Government does not address the demands as soon as possible, JTC and SKF will intensify the agitation and will move towards National Capital and stage a sit on at the Jantar Mantar and protest there.  The activists of JTC and SKF staged a strong protest under the leadership of  Pandita to turn the attention of Government towards the plight of displaced people from Valley.
Pandita said that the package of 20,000 Jobs should be given for unemployed youth of KPs, out of these 20 thousand posts 5,000 Class VI posts should be given to the unemployed youth of these families who could not send their children for higher education after matriculation due to poverty and exile. He also demanded that the Government should provide free ration to pensioners whose pensions are very low and also meet the other genuine demands of the community.
