Jt Controller LMD conducts meeting with CBSE schools

JAMMU, June 1: On the directions of Controller Legal Metrology, R  K Katoch,   Jt  Controller Legal Metrology V  S Sambyal conducted meeting with management of CBSE affiliated schools, civil society  members and consumer activists.
The members deliberated upon the judgement,  delivered by Chairman District Consumer Forum Jammu regarding banning of sale as well as referring of particular book sellers to the parents/students for purchase of notebooks, books, uniforms and other stationery materials to the students studying in their schools. The judgement has been supplied to all CBSE affiliated schools for implementation of the same.
Jt  Controller informed that any school, which  has not received the judgement,  can collect the same from his office for implementation. He  hoped that these schools shall voluntarily comply the same.  Failure to comply the judgement will amount to contempt proceedings, he added.
LMD has asked the schools to comply with the judgement within week’s time.  After the lapse of scheduled time,  departmental squads will conduct inspections in schools alongwith consumer activists and shall initiate contempt proceedings against defaulters. The meeting was attended by prominent consumer activists Des Raj Danish, president Consumer Protection Organization;  S  K Gupta,  president Consumer Welfare Association and management members of CBSE affiliated schools.
