JAMMU, Dec 3: With an objective to restore the pristine glory of heritage trail of old city under Smart City Mission programme of Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, the Jammu Smart City limited (JSCL) on Friday held discussion with different stakeholders to seek their support for the execution of ambitious project ‘Heritage Trail and Site beautification’.
The meeting was chaired by Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta. Additional CEO of JSCL, Hitesh Gupta; Projector Director, Sunil Thusu; Project Management Consultancy (PMC), Team leader, Pushpendra Srivastava; Assistant General Manager (AGM), Urban planning JSCL Deepika Gupta; Consultant PMC, S L Kapoor; stakeholders from different market associations; prominent persons from old city and officials from JMC were present in the meeting.
Giving detailed presentation on the ambitious project Heritage Trail and Site beautification, AGM), Urban planning JSCL Deepika Gupta said that the main objectives of the project are to restore the pristine glory of heritage trail of the old city and to showcase the historical as well as cultural landscape of Jammu.
The length of the Heritage trail is 5.5 km and the estimated cost of the project is Rs 16.56 crores.
The project includes the upgradation of road, IT based parking, public bicycle sharing system provision of cobblestone on carriage way and red sandstone on footpaths, street lighting, rationalization of existing poles as well as hanging wires and upgradation of public toilets.
The pedestrian-friendly heritage corridor will be constructed under the project which will add immensely to the shopping experience and result in increased business for the entire old city.
The other important components of the project upgradation of Rani Park & Purani Mandi Park, state of the art roadside amenities like ornamental street lights, dustbins, benches, water ATMs, underground service corridor for communication utilities and Provision of cobble stoned junctions and red sandstone footpaths to enhance the aesthetics and the longevity of the heritage corridor.
The stakeholders present in the meeting shared the valuable suggestion and extended support to the JSCL for completion of the project in a time frame manner.
Additional CEO, JSCL, Hitesh Gupta assured stakeholders to incorporate their suggestions in the project. He said that the project will provide a huge benefit to the shopkeepers of the old city. He also said that the JSCL is focused on improving the quality of life of people.
